The NS (Name Server) records of a domain reveal which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Simply, the zone is the range of all records for the domain address, so when you open a URL inside an Internet browser, your PC asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain address is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain must be retrieved. That way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain address is so that the latter is mapped to an IP address and the site content is required from the proper location, a mail relay server discovers which server manages the e-mails for the domain name (MX record) to ensure a message can be forwarded to the needed mailbox, etc. Any change of these sub-records is conducted through the company whose name servers are employed, permitting you to keep the web hosting and switch only your email provider for instance. Each domain has a minimum of two NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix like NS or DNS.

NS Records in Cloud Web Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia CP, which comes with our cloud web hosting products, will permit you to control the name servers of any domain address registered through our company with simply a couple of clicks, so even if you have not had a web hosting plan or a domain before, you will not encounter any issues. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and will permit you to modify the NS records of any domain or even a number of domain names all at once. We also provide you with the opportunity to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every single domain address registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IP addresses - either ours, if you are going to use the child NS to direct the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you'll use the new records to forward the domain address to their system. In contrast to other providers, we don't charge extra for providing this additional DNS management service.
