Every registered domain has at least 2 Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a particular web hosting provider. In this way, you have got both your site and your emails managed by the very same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are a number of other records, for example A and MX. The former shows which server manages the site for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one shows which server manages the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, any time you type a domain in your web browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you will be sent to the servers of a different service provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having separate records for the site and the emails suggests that you may have your site and your emails with two different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

With a cloud web hosting package from our company, you'll be able to set up or change the A and MX records of your domains and subdomains with ease by using our advanced Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Modifying the default records will take two clicks and the creation of a new record requires just a couple of more clicks, so even though you may have never dealt with such matters, you will not encounter any problems. We've got a large help section that makes things even easier. If you would like to switch your e-mail provider and you have to create a number of MX records in addition to the default two, you can pick their priority i.e. which record is going to deal with your e-mails first when somebody sends you a message. Usually the new provider is going to tell you what these values should be. With our shared plans, you're going to have complete control over your domains and subdomains and you'll be able to manage their A and MX records effortlessly and at any time.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting CP, provided with our semi-dedicated servers, allows you to see the A and MX records for each of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if necessary, to update any of them or create new ones. Managing these records is very easy as all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes a few more clicks and in case you experience any troubles, you can check out our educational videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to provide you with total control over all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're moving your emails to a different provider and they ask you to create more than two different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
