Launched in 2001, the Dot NAME extension is the only one meant for personal websites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other labels people are known by. Initially, just third-level registrations were possible, so if you wanted to buy john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered 3rd-level names remained working.

You will have the opportunity to modify the WHOIS contacts, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an active domain to our firm if you have its EPP transfer authorization code from the current domain service provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been finished. There are no specific stipulations on who can buy a dot NAME domain name, but in order to keep the idea behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration could be challenged.
